My Story:
I was an average high school student, with average grades. After 4 years of German in high school and doing a 3 week summer intensive course at the Goethe Institut. I was barely pulling off basic conversations with native speakers, but I was still facing huge barriers to becoming fluent in German. It wasn’t until 3 months into my Rotary Youth Exchange in Genthin, Germany that I broke down a major barrier and the fog began to lift. I locked myself for 6 hours in my room, determined to figure out what was holding me back. My desk was scattered with German language and grammar books, I had 10 tabs open on my internet browser and after 6 hours I came across one sentence that changed everything!
